King Kong

One good thing about King Kong was that for the first time a film has shown the plight of the Skull Islanders against foreign oppression. When first landing on the island the predominately white crew show no respect for native customs, instantly resorting to violence and modern warfare, killing as many as a hundred islanders. It will be some time before this under developed community can rebuild itself after the shock of the invasion forces.
The fact that they were unable to stop the drugging and kidnapping of their King further symbolises the lengths to which the western nations will go to gain control over the rest of the world. Finally after falling for one of the western women the King is ridiculed and persecuted before being tortured and killed. This is just one example of western tyranny over a small independant nation... more of these stories need to be told.
